The Priest and His Servant Baldà is seventh in a series of the “Russian Legends” collection. The artist Oleg Vladimirovich is a Master artist of Palekh. Only a chosen few of the painters trained in the ancient village Palekh ever earn the title of Palekh Master.
Amid the carnival atmosphere of the marketplace, young Baldà proposes a most unusual bargain: He will work for the priest, plough his fields, and feed the old nag, chop wood for the stove and light the fire. In return he will receive a bed and his fill of boiled wheat to eat. At the end of a year, Baldà will expect not a single ruble for his efforts, instead he will give the priest three raps on the head.
