VINTAGE HAND PAINTED ORNAMENTAL SPICE JARS or PORCELAIN CONDIMENT SET
Three brightly colored ornamental spice jars or condiment set. Each piece has the same hand painted Arabian desert night scene all the way around . The scene features a cobalt blue sky, a palm tree in the desert with mountains and a desert city in the background, three Arabian men – one standing with a gold pot, one sitting on a rock and one riding a camel, and highlighted with a gold band at the top.
The bottom of of each piece is marked “Handpainted” (in red) with the number 3200 stamped into the porcelain. One of the taller pieces has #78 under the 3200 (can’t read the other tall piece as the handpainted mark covers it), the shorter piece has the #79 under the 3200. Both taller pieces are 3” tall, about 2” wide, and have silver caps which are marked E.P.N.S. (Electro Plated Nickel Silver). The taller one with the larger hole on top, the lid opens. The other tall one, I can’t get the lid to open. The shorter piece is 1 ½” tall by 2” wide. There are no chips or cracks and no crazing to the glaze, and the inside has a brilliant white glaze finish. Research shows that these may have been made about 1935, but unable to tell from where.
These ornamental spice jars were among some keepsakes my MIL had.
